A better way to get together

A crazy couple months all led to this.

As a handful of people already know, Grant and I have been working day and night, for 4 months, on something we think is pretty cool. We have kept quiet for a while but that is about to change. Before I get to what's next, let's take a step back.

I left my last startup a bit discouraged.

Though we were close to launching the product, inexperienced leadership reduced our cohesiveness as a team and things began to fall apart. During that time, Grant and I were able to work closely and even during low points in the experience found ourselves excited about what the two of us could produce. We both moved out west to build some really amazing things and feel like the experiences thus far have made us better prepared to do so.

The most valuable thing I've learned is to bet on people.

Not ideas, not concepts, not money but people. The right people and the right culture are the hardest things to build with a startup. I'm not saying I feel like I've done it, but I know I'm heading down the right track.

We set out to change the way people get together.

I fundamentally believe that time spent with friends and family is the best part of life. Spontaneous or not, getting people together is not easy. We text people, talk on social networks, create old-fashioned events, etc. It's 2013, we carry mini supercomputers and communicate continuously but meeting up with friends in person is still difficult. We plan to change that, and we call it Together.

Together is the best way to bring friends together, for anything.

A group of friends shouldn't have to figure out how to contact everyone or have to leave one person to make all the decisions. Together keeps everyone in the loop and helps determine where and when. Within the next couple days we will begin our private beta with close friends and family. We will be adding more people to the private beta every day so make sure you're on the list by going to gettogether.co and signing up to be notified.

We will be launching an iPhone app and web app simultaneously and cannot wait to see what everyone thinks.
